Introduction of Rottnest Island Annual Transport Pass for WA Locals
Rottnest Island visitation continues to grow with a record 647,000 visitors during the 2016/17 financial year whilst at the same time achieving an overall satisfaction rate of 97%.
With the recent announcement of a third ferry operator to the island ADAMS expects a significant increase to family day visitors many of whom will make multiple visits every year to enjoy some of the incredible 63 beaches and 20 bays the island offers. Whilst the allure of riding bicycles is completely understandable we expect many regular visitors will want to take advantage of the Island Explorer hop on hop off bus service.
“The Island Explorer service is fully wheelchair accessible and air- conditioned so it’s a great option for families with young children and prams that find the hassle of transporting bikes to the island just too difficult, In addition to the introduction of an annual transport pass we are also doubling the frequency of the island Explorer service from the 1st December until 28th February 2018 meaning buses will depart every 20 minutes during the day 7 days per week” said Adam Barnard Managing Director ADAMS Group.
Tourism Minister Paul Papalia said Rottnest Island is the jewel in the crown of Western Australia’s tourism offerings and to see local businesses assist in making it more affordable for visitors is commendable. “The Hop on Hop off Island Explorer service is a wonderful way to explore Rottnest Island, whether it’s to hitch a ride to your favourite bay for a swim or to just sit in air-conditioned comfort and be driven past all the scenic sites” Minister Papalia said.
